Custom Cutting Boards
Custom end-grain and face-grain cutting boards, handmade from hardwood in the USA. Food-safe finishes, built to last a generation of kitchen use.
Why a Custom Cutting Board?
Every cutting board in a working kitchen gets used hard. The ones worth keeping are built from real hardwood — tight-grained, knife-friendly, and finished with food-safe oil. A custom board from Splintered Board is built to your exact dimensions, with wood species you actually choose instead of whatever the factory had on hand.
What We Build
End-grain boards: Easier on knife edges, self-healing surface — the gold standard for serious home cooks
Face-grain boards: Classic look, great for serving boards and charcuterie presentations
Custom dimensions: Small prep boards up to full 24-inch slab boards
Wood species: Maple, walnut, cherry, or mixed hardwood patterns
Juice grooves: Available on request for carving and roasting boards
Personalization: Laser-engraved names, monograms, or simple designs
Materials & Food Safety
We use only food-safe finishes — mineral oil and food-grade butcher block conditioner. No varnish, no lacquer, nothing that doesn't belong near your food. Maple and walnut are our go-to species: both are hard enough to resist knife scarring while being gentle on your blades. End-grain construction means the wood fibers push apart rather than getting sliced, which extends the life of both the board and your knives.
Sizing Guide
Not sure what size you need? A good everyday prep board runs 12×18 inches minimum. If you butcher or carve roasts, go bigger — 16×22 or 18×24 gives you room to work. For charcuterie boards used as serving platters, shape and aesthetics matter more than size, so we'll work with you on the design.
Care & Longevity
A good cutting board needs regular oiling and a little respect. Read the Cutting Board Care guide for everything you need to know about keeping your board in top shape for years — including how to fix scratches and what never to do with a dishwasher.
