Cutting Board Care

๐Ÿชต Cutting Board Care

Your board was hand-finished and sealed โ€” but it's still wood, so don't be reckless.

๐Ÿงด Oiling & Conditioning

Your board needs a little love now and then:

1. Apply food-grade mineral oil generously to all surfaces 2. Let it soak in for 15โ€“20 minutes 3. Wipe off the excess with a clean cloth 4. Repeat every 2โ€“4 weeks depending on use

๐Ÿ›  Pro Tip: If the board starts looking dry or lighter in color, it's thirsty. Oil it.

๐Ÿšฟ Cleaning

Hand wash only โ€” never put it in the dishwasher (seriously, don't)

Use warm water and mild dish soap

Wipe down and dry immediately โ€” don't let it sit in water

For stubborn smells, scrub with coarse salt and half a lemon

โš ๏ธ What NOT To Do

Don't soak it in water or leave it in the sink

Don't microwave it (yes, someone asked)

Don't use bleach or harsh chemicals

Don't cut raw meat directly on it without proper cleaning after

Don't store it flat against a wet counter โ€” stand it upright

๐Ÿ“ฆ Storage

Store upright in a well-ventilated spot

Keep away from heat sources (stove, oven, that sunny window)

Avoid extreme temperature changes โ€” wood doesn't like surprises

๐Ÿ”ง Fixing Scratches & Rough Spots

Normal wear is fine โ€” it adds character. But if it bugs you:

1. Sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper 2. Wipe clean with a damp cloth 3. Apply mineral oil and let it dry 4. Resume chopping things aggressively

๐Ÿ™Œ Longevity Tips

Oil it regularly (can't say this enough)

Use both sides to even out the wear

Don't use it as a serving tray for hot pots

Treat it well and it'll outlast your kitchen
